Location matters.  Ask any business owner, realtor, sports coach, or anyone for that matter.   To succeed, you have to find the right place and be there.   I know that you, the reader, know this.   I bring this up, because Kimball’s location is perfect for many types of business that need easy access to multiple markets.

Kimball, Nebraska is near the center of the continental US.  It is only about 300 miles away as the crow fly, or however the old saying goes.  Though not perfectly in the center of the country, Kimball holds a distinct advantage.   We sit along the intersection of I-80 and the Heartland Expressway.

I-80 provides Kimball with easy access to many major markets. It only takes 2 and a half hours to reach Denver and 6 hours to reach Omaha.  Salt Lake City, UT, Kansas City,KS/MO,  Albuquerque, NM, Des Moines, IA and Willisten, ND are all within a days drive.   We are also lucky that the rural interstate through Nebraska and neighboring Wyoming sees  far less traffic than the urban areas and the more populated states on the east and west coast.  This equates to more miles being traveled when approaching and exiting Kimball.

Running south to north (or north to south) is the Heartland Expressway.   Heartland is the center portion of the Ports to Plains Alliance with Ports to Plains running from the US/Mexico Border into Colorado and with the Teddy Roosevelt Expressway running from Rapid City, SD to the Canadian border in North Dakota.  Heartland connects Denver to Rapid City via Highway 71 through Kimball.  Each of these corridors is considered a Critical Rural Freight Corridors by the federal government.  The plan is to have a 4 lane highway system running through America’s Heartland to alleviate congestion on the interstates and give truckers an alternate route to drive north and south.  This project is ongoing, but the stretch from Kimball north to Scottsbluff is completed.

Using the interstate system and the Ports to Plains corridor, the travel to and from Canada and Mexico is simple.  Canada is less than 700 miles and Mexico is less than 800 from the City of Kimball.  If transportation is a major need for your company, look at Kimball, NE.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.
